The College owes its existence to the tireless efforts of late S. Ajmer Singh, former Minister Government Punjab, the Illustrious son of soil and his team of selfless and saintly persons. The college is located on a stretch of 22 acres of prime land donated by Gram Panchayat, Village Bondli on the Samrala Chandigarh National Highway. It is housed in a beautiful building comprising an Administrative wing Science block, Arts block, Commerce Block, Computer Science and information Technology Block, Girls' Wing. Advanced Computer Labs, Digital English language Lab and Fashion Designing Lab, Air Conditioned Auditorium, large grounds and a well-furnished computerized library. Gymnasium, Out-Door Student Centre, Career Guidance Centre and Centre for Equal Opportunities has been built, brick by brick over the years by the grace of the Almighty.

The Institution came into existence in the year 1965 as a co-educational Institution Imparting education up to under-graduate level in Science as well as Arts faculty. Before the inception of this college, there was no Institution of higher education in this area and the practice of distance education and correspondence courses was also not much in vogue. With deficient and underdeveloped means of communication, the youth of this area particularly the girls had to do without education. With the establishment of this institution, higher education became accessible and affordable to the youth of this area. At present the college is imparting education in, M.Sc. (Mathematics) and PGDCA at the post graduate level and Bachelors in Arts, Computer Science and information Technology, B.Sc. (Non-Medical) and Computer Science and B. Com at the undergraduate level.

The college has earnestly endeavored to provide equal opportunities of education to all, without any gender bias and Irrespective of the caste, color, & creed The girls and the poor students of the scheduled Class are given special incentives in the form of fee concession, PMS Scholarships and books from Book Bank etc.

The land on which the college is situated and its surroundings, has a special historical significance. Thie area was trodden by the Tenth Guru of Sikhs , Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, while going from Chamkaur Sahib to Machhiwara

Since last ten years a new Managing Committee headed under the patronage and leadership of Sardar Balbir Singh Rajewal has taken over the governance of the college. He and his team of committed, dedicated and sincere persons are working very hard to take the institution forward on the path to glory and success. Today the college enjoys an enviable positsion in curricular, co-curricular activites and sports, it has produced national and International sports-persons, artists, administrators, and leaders in business. Such achievements bear testimony to the dedicated efforts of its staff philanthropy of its Management, munificence of its well-wishers and cooperation from civil and police administration.
